Animal Welfare Celebrations on Republic Day

 

Team PAWS & Team PFA from Mira Road conducted Mega Anti-Rabies Drive in Mira Road East Areas. Over 150 stray dogs and cats were provided vaccination against Rabies.

The event was hosted and managed by Plant and Animals Welfare Society' (PAWS) and partnered online by BHARAT4india. It has been a record achievement for the PAWS team ever since its inception 13 years ago, with 150 strays being vaccinated by three teams in just three hours, under the guidance of PAWS veterinarians Dr. Lalitha Gopalan (M. V. Sc.) and Dr. Vivek Nandedkar (B. V. Sc.).

PAWS Founder member Nilesh Bhanage and team members comprising Sumit Yadav, Sanchit More, Rohit Achrekar, Dr. Neetu John, Swapnil Karandikar, Tejaswita Dere, Alisha Bhise, Sourabh Edwankar, Janhavi Salunke & Crystal Fernandez among others volunteered for the event. A total of 30 volunteers were present at the location.

Team PAWS was divided into 3 teams named team Niswath, team Arth and team Worth, of ten members each. Local animal activists like Salim Charaniya, Maria Danthy, Youlanda D'souza, Cynthia Fernandez, Rajdeep & Anita Desai, Sandip Chakraborty, Dinesh Gohil too assisted the teams during the vaccination programme.
